The Arkın İskele Hotel presents three astronomical artworks by British artist Luke Jerram featuring high-resolution NASA imagery. The spherical sculptures measure five meters in diameter each, and are internally lit representations of the three of the most essential celestial bodies in human history.

The rotating Gaia installation is located in the main entrance of the Hotel and aims to create a sense of the Overview Effect, as first described by author Frank White in 1987. It is 1.8 million times smaller than the real Earth with each centimeter of the internally lit sculpture describing 18km of the Earth’s surface. The Museum of the Moon and Mars are located in the atriums of Blocks A and B, allows viewers to look at these incredible spheres from the ground as well as from the air, as though we are a satellite mapping and studying the surface in perfect detail. Every valley, crater, volcano and mountain is laid bare to inspect in a full 360-degree view.
